Are you looking to play your part in designing and building steel structures throughout New Zealand?

In this role you will work as an Structural Steel Detailer in our high-performing Shop Drawing team. 

You will work alongside our structural and civil engineers to deliver 3D models that meet the project brief, are delivered within the given deadlines and comply with relevant QA, drafting and technical standards. 

You will have an understanding of projects costs/budgets and the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external clients.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include

• Reading and interpreting Architectural and Structural Drawings
• Developing detailed 3D models and detecting potential model clashes or connection issues
• Creating shop drawings for steel structures showing required dimensions, welds, holes, locations surface treatments and finishes
• Developing expertise in the latest Tekla Structures software, including advanced concepts and macro use
• Use & understand basic weld types and sizing in various applications to comply with minimum AS/NZS 1554 standards
• Develop understanding of construction & erection techniques
• Plan & calculate lengths and dimensions of various steel elements according to construction tolerances and NZ construction and transportation requirements.
• Develop understanding of basic review / approval & fabrication processes
• Liaise with consultants and/or main project contractor from for RFI resolution

We are looking for someone who has

• Relevant NZQF Diploma or 3+ years CAD drafting & steel detailing experience
• Experience with Tekla Structures Software highly desirable
• Proven experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Ability to work independently and within a team to deliver projects on time and on budget

This is a full-time role with 40 hours guaranteed per week. You will work on-site in our office in central Palmerston North. 

You must have NZ Residency or have a work visa already in place to be considered for this role.
